Alex Palou has been one of the four rising stars getting the change to test for an IndyCar racing team this year. On July 29th, Felipe Nasr, former Formula 1 racer and British F3 champion and Alex Palou, had their IndyCar appearence at the Mid-Ohio SportsCar Course.
Alex Palou, 22-year-old Catalan driver, is currently thirs in the 2019 Super Formula standings. He finished seventh in the FIA F3 2018, after being third in the Japanese F3 in 2017. This season he competes in the Super GT championship with Team Goh in McLaren 720S GT3 and in Super Formula with Nakajima Racing. During this Mid-Ohio test Alex Palou made his Indy Car debut with Dane Coyne Racing-Honda.
The opportunity arose for the talented driver because Roger Yasukawa, Team Goh’s team manager is a former Indy Car driver. Between him and Honda they have been able to get in touch with the IndyCar team and everything else went easily well.
Alex drove the same time as the other drivers did on the Saturday’s qualifying and he has been faster than Felipe Nasr, who could not catch him.
